McPC Series UTP to Fiber Converters

McPC Series Media Converters are ideal for Fiber-to-the-Desktop applications and for companies with frequent moves and changes to workstation locations. Installing right inside the PC or a workstation, next to an existing NIC card, these unobtrusive units eliminate the need to place Media Converters on top of CPUs and having additional power adaptors and cords around the workspace.

McPC Media Converters support twisted pair to coaxial or fiber media conversion at Ethernet data rates:

  • 10 Mbps Ethernet (TP/BNC) - Ideal for bringing coaxial cable up to 300m long to the desktop
  • 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet (TX/FX) - Designed to connect to NIC cards running at Fast Ethernet speeds
  • 10/100 Mbps Switching Ethernet (TP-TX/FX) - A rate converter as well as a media converter, 10/100 Switching McPC converts 10 or 100Mbps over copper to 100Mbps over fiber
  • 10/100 Mbps Autonegotiation (10/100) - A media converter only, converts copper to fiber, both running either 10Mbps or 100Mbps. The correct speed is selected automatically. (If rate conversion is also needed, select the 10/100Mbps Switching McPC.)
  • 1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet (TX/SX or TX/LX) - Ideal for bringing Gigabit speed connectivity to the desktop via fiber.

McPC converters are available for virtually any fiber type, from short-haul multi-mode to long-haul single-mode, with standard ST or SC connectors. Single strand fiber versions also available - call for availability.

McPC converters can be ordered with either a standard PCI bracket (McPC/PCI) or an ISA bracket (McPC/ISA), for added flexibility.

All McPC Converters

  • Save money by keeping existing copper network card (NIC) and converting inside the PC
  • No drivers to install; McPC mounts inside any PC or workstation with a standard PCI or ISA slot
  • Connectors: RJ-45 for twisted pair, BNC for coaxial and ST or SC for fiber
  • Includes a standard 4-pin peripheral power connector
  • AutoCross or pushbutton selectable MDI-II/MDI-X, depending on the unit
  • 50/125um or 62.5/125um multi-mode fiber *
  • 9/125um single-mode fiber *
