Power Over Ethernet Products

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that allows both data and power to be transmitted over standard Cat5 copper cable. Power over Ethernet is a flexible, cost-effective solution that enables operators to install and power PoE-enabled remote devices anywhere an Ethernet connection is available.

Initial PoE (IEEE 802.3af) technology, capable of providing up to 15.4 Watts of power to a device, was the original standard. However, today's complex devices demand a greater amount of power and thus the PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) standard was born. Supplying a maximum of 25.5 Watts, PoE+ powers the latest devices such as PTZ (Pan-tilt-zoom) IP cameras, WiFi access points and LCD screens.

There are two distinct categories of PoE products:

  • Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) - Hardware that delivers PoE to network devices.
  • Powered Devices (PD) - Hardware that runs off the PoE which is supplied by the PSE device above.

IMC Networks offers PoE and PoE+ technology in the media converters and optical access devices listed below.

The PoE / PoE+ Giga-McBasic

PoE / PoE+ Giga-McBasicThePoE and PoE+ Giga-McBasic are the perfect solutions for Gigabit Ethernet applications that require Power over Ethernet for locations inside buildings where PoE is needed to power a remote Ethernet device. Their small, table-top design and internal AC power supply make these durable media converters perfect for installation anywhere space is limited, without having to use awkward, external AC/DC power transformers.

The PoE McBasic

PoE McBasicThe PoE McBasic offers three ports - a 100 Mbps fiber uplink for the network connection, one PoE/PSE 10/100Base-T copper port that provides Power over Ethernet, and one 10/100 Mbps copper port to connect a non-PoE unit to the same fiber uplink.

The PoE / PoE+ Giga-MiniMc

PoE / PoE+ Giga-MiniMcThe PoE and PoE+ Giga-MiniMc are low-cost, compact, multi-port media converters that support both PoE and PoE+ standards. These units are targeted to Gigabit and 100 Mbps Applications that require power over Ethernet to locations where PoE is needed to power the remote device. Their compact size allow them to be mounted virtually anywhere when utilized in interior private network applications.

PD-Switch

PD-SwitchWhile typical PoE switches are designed to deliver power to remote network devices, acting as PSE devices, the new multi-port PD-Switch from IMC Networks accepts PoE, acting as an 802.3af-compliant Powered Device (PD). With the PD-Switch, operators can now extend the 100 meter range of their copper-based networks to an additional 100 meters, without costly and complex electrical rewiring.

An optional SFP port or an SC or ST fiber connector provide media conversion to long-haul fiber connections. Support for DiffServ and the inclusion of a low latency VoIP copper port offer port-based QoS options.

iMcV-PSE-MidSpan

iMcV-PSE-MidSpanThe iMcV-PSE-MidSpan module allows network operators to easily add PoE delivery capabilities (PSE) to an IMC Networks iMediaChassis managed chassis. The PSE-MidSpan delivers data and power to Ethernet devices over a single Ethernet cable. The module is compatible with all iMcV-compatible chassis, such as the 3, 6 and 20-slot iMediaChassis.

PSE-McBasic Family

PSE-McBasic FamilyIMC Networks has incorporated PoE technology into the classic McBasic line of media converters. The PSE-McBasic family, which includes the extended temperature range PSE-XT-McBasic, combines copper to fiber media conversion with PoE, delivering a versatile network solution for operators. The PSE-McBasic plugs into a power source at the fiber termination point, and converts the remote single-mode or multi-mode connection, or single strand fiber connection, to PoE over twisted-pair cable. Network devices up to 100m from the fiber termination point can then be powered. The XT version allows operation in more difficult environments.

IE-Product Lines

IMC Networks continues to innovate by integrating multiple powering options and extended temperature (IE) functionality into many of its core products, allowing operation in industrial and other harsh environments. Several of IMC Networks' IE media converters and optical demarcation devices have been released with Powered Device (PD) functionality, including the IE-MiniMc media converter and the IE-MiniFiberLinX-II optical demarcation device.
