PD-Switch
Combining flexible copper and fiber interface options, including media conversion, along with port and packet-based traffic prioritization, PD-Switch's rich functionality turns Power over Ethernet (PoE) into extended network range.
Today's network operators benefit from implementing Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology. No electrical wiring
is needed, allowing flexibility in placement and design of network solutions such as Wireless Access Points and
IP cameras
While typical PoE switches are designed to deliver power to remote network devices, the multi-port PD-Switch from IMC Networks accepts PoE, acting as an 802.3af compliant Powered Device (PD). With the PD-Switch, operators can now extend the 100 meter range of their copper-based networks an additional 100 meters, without costly and complex electrical rewiring.
With multiple port configurations, the PD-Switch provides a variety of options while increasing port density.
PD-Switches come equipped with a "PD" RJ-45 port and either:
- Four 10/100Base-T RJ-45 data ports
- Three 10/100Base-T RJ-45 data ports and one SFP port or,
- Two 10/100Base-T RJ-45 data ports and one standard (1x9) fiber port. All fiber ports are fixed at
100 Mbps.
The fiber port and SFP versions offer media conversion between copper and multi-mode or single-mode fiber connections.
Each PD-Switch also comes equipped with a low latency RJ-45 port for high-priority network traffic. The PD-Switch also supports IP packet prioritization, giving a higher priority to any traffic on any port that is flagged for higher priority. All RJ-45 ports also feature Auto-Cross and Auto Negotiation. The fiber-optic models feature Far End Fault, providing notification of Far End Link Loss on the fiber port.
IMC Networks offers a full range of SFPs. For more information, go to the SFP product page.

Application Diagram
In the following example, PD-Switches have been connected to a central (PoE) PSE-Switch, extending the range of the network and increasing port density. One PD-Switch utililzes the four standard RJ-45 ports to connect to the network, while the other two use the fiber and SFP configurations to extend the network beyond the 200 m range.
