There is a known issue when operating an IMC Networks' McLIM connected with certain new model switch ports. This problem only manifests itself if there is no fiber link established to the McLIM, and if the LinkLoss feature is disabled. With no fiber link, the lack of signal from the fiber port is interpreted as a CRC error by the twisted pair port on the new switch. The problem is easily remedied by doing one of two things:
- Enabling the LinkLoss Feature
- Establishing a fiber link
This problem has no effect on the performance of the McLIM after link is established on the fiber port.
McLIM TX/FX modules manufactured after May 1st, 2000 will not be affected.
